I crafted a colorful and engaging infographic highlighting ways to support a child’s language development for the Child Development Team in Albany, Western Australia. Children referred to the Speech-Langauge Department often had a long wait time (1-2 years) before being assessed and treated. As manager of the SLP department, I identified this lengthy wait as a high-risk issue and created the tip sheet as part of a multi-stage risk management plan, which was sent out to each newly referred client. Along with developing parent training classes, composing grant proposals for increased FTE, and creating a prioritization matrix, documentation like this reduced wait times, resulted in more appropriate services, and increased client satisfaction.
